Golden Flutes,

by JPS Labs

Hand made bass alignment filters designed for over 50 different models of loudspeakers. If you own B&W, KEF or Thiel speakers, you may already be using these. If you are not, you should consider it. After six years on the market they have proven to be one of the most significant and cost effective upgrades you can make to a high-end speaker system, and are now being used with such popular lines as Totem, Legacy, Aerial, Martin-Logan, Von Schweikert and many others.

Whereas a separate subwoofer can be very difficult to integrate into a good speaker system, Golden Flutes work within the design parameters of the main speaker to narrowly amplify the low frequency region below a given speaker's flat response. Done properly you can extend bass response downward by 10hz or more, with no detrimental effects on the mids and highs.

The filters simply connect in line between amp and preamp, or in a tape loop for easy bypass. The RCA version is $450 per pair; $750 for balanced. Compare that price tag to a decent subwoofer; it's no contest. Chances are these could be utilized in your system, call us to check it out. Money back performance guaranteed. - Paul Jenkins

Save $500 on the Genesis Time Lens + Nirvana Digital Combination!

Our vote for the most important digital product of 1997 has nothing to do with DVD or 24/96, rather the latest version of the Genesis Digital Time Lens de-jittering and resolution enhancement circuit. This is likely to be the most significant upgrade you can make to your current high end digital.

AES, Coax, and ST glass inputs and outputs are standard, but the magic digital cable combination our customers are finding is the Nirvana "Transmission" coaxial digital cable ($595/1.5m). Use them both in and out of the Time Lens, or just as output to your DAC. This is very special synergy at work.

For a limited time, purchase a Genesis Time Lens for the normal price of $1795, and get a 1.5m Nirvana cable for just $100! (One special per customer only.) Call or email us to try a Lens from the Library, and hear a truly significant digital component at work.

Best Affordable Cartridges:

The title of "Best $300 Cartridge" is jointly held by the nude, moving coil Sumiko Blue Point Special and the wood clad, moving magnet Grado Platinum. Given that they are design opposites, you can bet that they sound different. The BPS is as open sounding as it's body appears, while the Grado has the seductive "classic" sound. Both are high output, and equally good in absolute terms; choice is a matter of taste. Choose yours for $299 and we'll send you a free bottle of LAST Stylus Cleaner.

The next step? Clearly the Benz Glider, now even more of a steal at only $699 also with free LAST Cleaner. Choose medium (1.0mV) or high (2.0mV) output.

And beyond? Can you afford to contemplate the superb $1200 Grado Reference? The upmarket Benz products? The Clearaudio line? Call our analog consultants to discuss ideas for your turntable.
